NORMAL, IL - Toledo extended tournament host Illinois State to four sets, but the Redbirds managed to register a 3-1 (25-13, 25-19, 18-25, 25-15) victory over the Rockets.

Annie Beasley paced Toledo offensively with a career-high 12 kills with freshman MB
Haley Sendelbach tallying eight terminations and a team-best four blocks.
Ashley Rosch tied for the team lead with 15 kills against UT and was named the Country Financial Redbird Classic's Most Valuable Player.
Illinois State (7-2) used a nine-point run early in the first set to build momentum, turning a 3-3 tie into a 12-3 cushion. The Redbirds then matched the Rockets point-for-point the rest of the way to take the first set.
The Redbirds and Rockets traded points early in the second set. Illinois State eventually built a 20-14 lead that Toledo couldn't overcome.
Toledo (1-8) led for much of the third set and built its biggest lead of the match at seven points, en route to handing the Redbirds their only set loss of the tournament.
Illinois State bounced back in the fourth set, however, and used a 7-1 run midway through the set to pull away. The Redbirds finished off the match with a kill from Rosch.

Carly Townsend earned all-tournament team honors for the Rockets after posting a .288 attack mark and 2.36 kills per set.
Toledo returns to action Tuesday at Valparaiso with an 8:00 p.m. match.
