3/7/2015 2:36:00 AM

YPSILANTI, MI – Toledo dropped an 85-59 decision at Eastern Michigan in its regular-season finale on Friday evening. Despite the defeat, the Rockets are the No.4 seed in the 2015 Mid-American Conference tournament and will receive a bye to the third round on Thursday, March 11. UT's possible opponents are No. 5 Bowling Green, No. 8 Eastern Michigan, No. 9 Miami and No. 12 Ball State.

Toledo (19-12, 11-7 MAC) was paced offensively by senior forward J.D. Weatherspoon, who tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds for his third straight double-double. Also scoring in double figures were senior guard Julius Brown and sophomore guard Jonathan Williams with 11 points apiece.

Senior guard Mike Talley paced the Eagles with a game-high 23 points with senior forward Karrington Ward notching 18 points and seven boards. EMU's leading scorer, sophomore guard Raven Lee, finished with 17 points.

Eastern Michigan stifled the Rockets' offense as UT shot 32.2 percent from the field and was 18-of-27 from the charity stripe. The Eagles registered a 45.6 shooting mark and committed just eight turnovers.

The Rockets owned a 45-40 edge on the glass, but that couldn't overcome their conference season high of 20 turnovers.

UT was able to take a nine-point lead, 24-15, with just over five minutes remaining in the first half after holding EMU without a field goal for over seven minutes. Talley ended that drought with a jumper which sparked a 9-0 burst that evened the score at 24-all.

Talley's three-point basket put the Rockets down 31-27 with less than a minute to go in the half, but junior center Nathan Boothe beat the clock with a putback at the halftime buzzer.

After committing eight turnovers in the opening stanza, Toledo tallied s ix miscues in the opening five minutes of the second half. That inefficient performance on the offensive end resulted in EMU's first double-digit lead, 44-33. Ward followed with a jumper and three-point field goal to increase the Eagles' lead to 49-33 a minute later.

The Rockets couldn't come closer than 13 points the remainder of the contest.
