Toledo Returns from Holiday Break on Wednesday vs. Northern Kentucky

QUICK HITTERS
•    Toledo (8-4) receives its final tuneup for Mid-American Conference play when it hosts Northern Kentucky (4-6) on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at 7:00 p.m. The Rockets are looking to build on back-to-back convincing victories, a 102-68 win over Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 19 and a 95-62 triumph over North Carolina A&T on Dec. 21. The Norse also bring a two-game win streak into the contest after defeating Southeast Missouri State (79-69) on Dec. 19 and IU-Kokomo (88-44) on Dec. 23.
•    NKU will be the sixth Horizon League school the Rockets will face this season. Toledo has a 3-2 mark vs. the Horizon with road wins over Youngstown State (Nov. 18) and Green Bay (Dec. 6) and a home triumph vs. Cleveland State (Dec. 2). The Midnight Blue and Gold's defeats came at Detroit (Dec. 9) and vs. Oakland (Dec. 12) in Savage Arena.
•    UT opens Mid-American Conference play with road tilts at Ball State (Jan. 6) and Miami (Jan. 9) before hosting Northern Illinois (Jan. 12) and Akron (Jan. 16).
•    Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk is in his sixth season at UT's helm and has orchestrated a dramatic turnaround since his arrival in 2010. He possesses a 93-82 (.531) record on the Rocket bench, including an 89-54 (.622) win-loss ledger over the last five years. 
•    Kowalczyk has guided Toledo to a share of the 2013-14 Mid-American Conference regular season title in addition to a piece of the 2012-13 MAC West Division title.
•    Junior Jonathan Williams paced Toledo in its 33-point win over the Aggies with 25 points, one shy of his career high. Joining Williams in double digits were senior Nathan Boothe (18 pts., 8 reb., 7 asst.), freshman Jaelan Sanford (16 pts.) and junior Zach Garber (13 pts., 7 reb.).
•    Toledo limited the Aggies to a 34.8 shooting mark, the lowest field-goal percentage by a UT opponent this season.
•    Williams and senior Nathan Boothe are the Mid-American Conference's top two leading scorers with 20.1 and 17.8 ppg, respectively. Boothe also is second in the MAC with a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio, third with 8.9 rpg and fifth with 4.6 apg. Sophomore Stuckey Mosley is scoring in double digits as well at 11.1 ppg and ranks second on the team with 5.9 rpg and 3.7 apg.
•    Toledo ranks fourth nationally with its MAC-best 1.84 assist/turnover ratio, tied for 13th for fewest turnovers per game (10.1) and 17th with 18.6 apg.
•    Senior forward Jalen Billups paces NKU with 14.7 ppg, 1.8 bpg and a 67.4 field-goal percentage. Sophomore guard Lavone Holland II (11.1 ppg), senior guard Tyler White (10.9 ppg) and junior guard Cole Murray (10.7 ppg) are also scoring in double digits.

ROCKET ROUNDUP FROM UT'S 95-62 WIN OVER NORTH CAROLINA A&T
• The Rockets are 7-2 leading at halftime and have trailed just once — vs. Oakland on Dec. 12 ­— following 20 minutes this season.
• Toledo's 38-point lead over the Aggies in the second half was its largest vs. an NCAA Division I opponent this season.
• UT is 8-1 when shooting 45 percent or higher from the field and winless in three games when shooting under 45 percent.
• The Rockets are 6-1 when shooting 70 percent or better from the free-throw line.
• Toledo is 7-1 when grabbing more rebounds than its opponent.
• Junior Jonathan Williams has scored 14 or more points in every game this season, including a team-high eight 20-point outings.
• Senior Nathan Boothe has scored in double figures in 11 of 12 games this season and  has led the team in rebounding on a team-high nine occasions and in assists a team-best eight times.
• Boothe also tied his season high with three blocked shots and needs just five more rejections to equal J.C. Harris' (1989-92) school record of 138 blocks.
• Junior Zach Garber has started the last three games for the Rockets and is averaging 12.0 ppg and 6.7 rpg with a 73.7 FG% (14-of-19) in 25.0 mpg during that span.
• Freshman Jaelan Sanford scored 16 points for a second-straight contest and is averaging 16.0 ppg, 4.5 apg and 4.0 rpg with a 61.1 FG% (11-of-18) and a 57.1 3FG% (8-of-14) in his last two games.
• Freshman Nate Navigato has connected for a three-point field goal in all but one contest this season and is leading the Rockets with an 89.5 free-throw percentage.

ROCKETS RANKING AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS IN 2015-16
    Toledo ranks fourth nationally (through games of Dec. 28) with its 1.84 assist/turnover ratio, tied for 13th in fewest turnovers per game (10.1) and 17th with 18.6 assists per game.
    Individually, Nathan Boothe ranks 35th with 6.8 defensive rebounds per game. He also is 98th nationally with 4.6 assists per game and is the only center ranked among the Top 250 players nationally.
    Junior guard Jonathan Williams appears among the nation's Top 30 scoring leaders ranking 28th with 20.1 ppg, 
    Boothe also is 34th in the national rankings with five double-doubles.

A LOOK AHEAD
    The Rockets open Mid-American Conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 6 with a visit to Muncie, IN to face Ball State (7-4). Toledo has won its last four games in Worthen Arena as well as its longest win streak in its series vs. BSU — four — since Feb. 26, 2006-Jan. 6, 2008.
