TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo men's tennis program will host its annual UT Rocket Invitational this weekend, Oct. 9-11.
Â
"This is our largest event we've had," said head coach Al Wermer. "It's going to be great to have the exposure for college tennis in the center of campus, especially throughout our homecoming weekend. People will be excited to see some great tennis and have a look at our six freshmen!"
Teams attending the tournament include: Chicago State, Case Western, Cleveland State, Duquesne, Mercyhurst, Purdue, St. Francis, Wayne State, Western Michigan, Write State and Youngstown State. Purdue, Case Western and Western Michigan will play as a split team this weekend.
Â
Matches will take place at three separate locations: the UT Varsity Tennis Courts on campus, Shadow Valley Tennis Club on Holland-Sylvania Road and Shadow Valley Tennis Club on Central Ave.
There will be no team scoring, with simultaneous singles and doubles play during each matchup. All matches will be best-of-three sets, with a 10-point tiebreak in the third set.Â
All score and event updates for the Rocket Invitational will be available at the Toledo tennis Twitter page, @RocketTennis, and at #RocketInvite.
Â
At last year's Rocket Invitational, the Midnight Blue & Gold won seven out of its nine double matches and 16 out of its 22 singles matches.
