Three Rockets fire off straight-set wins over Broncos on Saturday
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Toledo men's tennis team fell in a tight battle against Western Michigan, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Poonthong Komolpisut, Lucas Britez and Cole Cozens picked up singles wins for the Rockets, marking their three points in the contest. Komolpisut got the scoring started for the Rockets, firing off a straight-set win on the No. 2 court and evening the match score, 1-1.
WMU picked up wins on the No. 3 and No. 5 courts as well as the doubles point while UT responded with wins by Britez on the No. 4 court, 6-4, 6-2 and Cozens on the No. 6 court, 6-3, 6-2, to keep the contest even at 3 points apiece.
Match point came down to a battle on the No. 1 singles court as senior Hanamichi Carvajal fell in a third set, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1, 1-6.
