Toledo Begins Second Half of MAC Season Hosting Bowling Green on Friday

      TOLEDO, OH – Toledo returns to Savage Arena following back-to-back weekends on the road for home contests vs. arch-rival Bowling Green (5-16, 1-7 MAC) on Friday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. and Miami (14-7, 6-2 MAC) on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 5:00 p.m. Both matches will be televised live on ESPN3 and can be seen on the WatchESPN app.
      Toledo ranks among the league leaders in digs, ranking third in conference matches with 16.90 dps and fourth overall with 16.02 dps.
      The Rockets' defense is led by freshman libero Maurissa Leonard, who leads the league with 5.77 dps in conference action. The Oregon, OH native was named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week the first two weeks of conference play for her standout performances in the UT backcourt.
      A starter at libero for UT's last 16 contests, Leonard recorded a career-high 32 digs against WMU (Oct. 2) for the second time in league play. She averaged 5.86 dps against the Golden Flashes and the Bobcats last weekend.
      Sophomore MB Rachel Vidourek paces UT with a .299 attack percentage and 0.82 blocks per set. Vidourek's hitting mark ranks her eighth in the league.
      Sophomore OH Saige Thomas leads the team with 2.52 kps followed closely by Vidourek (2.45 kps) and junior RSH Mary O'Connor (2.19 kps).
      Thomas paced the team with 14 kills last Saturday at Ohio.
      Vidourek posted a team-high six blocks last weekend, followed by sophomore OH Annie Beasley and freshman OH/S Carly Townsend who each posted four.
 
SCOUTING BOWLING GREEN
      Last weekend, the Falcons were swept at home by Central Michigan before dropping a 3-2 decision to Eastern Michigan. Bowling Green is winless in seven road matches this season.
      Junior OH Jelena Sunjic, who leads BGSU with a .240 attack percentage, ranks second in the MAC with 3.79 kills per set. Sophomore OH Nicole Slimko is the Falcons' other top offensive threat with 3.00 kps and a .213 hitting mark. Junior MB Alyssa Maloney is pacing the Falcons with 1.01 bps.
 
SCOUTING MIAMI
      The RedHawks are tied for second place in the MAC's East Division with Kent State and trail first-place Ohio by two games in the standings. Miami ranks second in the conference in league matches with 13.50 kills and 17.60 digs per set.
      Senior MB Jenny Ingle tops the MAC with an impressive .366 ATK% with junior OH Paige Hill in third place with a .343 ATK%. In league play, the duo has raised their play a notch with Hill and Ingle holding .448 and .424 marks, respectively.

LEONARD ANCHORS BACKCOURT
      Freshman Maurissa Leonard has emerged as the Rockets' defensive leader after taking over as UT's starting libero on Sept. 5.
      Leonard leads UT with 4.71 dps and has tallied 30 or more digs on four occasions. She collected a season-high 32 digs versus Ball State (Sept. 24) and Western Michigan (Oct. 2) as well as 30 against Evansville (Sept. 5) and Youngstown State (Sept. 11).
      Leonard, who began starting at libero for the Rockets in early September, leads the MAC with 5.77 dps in conference play.
 
VIDOUREK VITAL TO ATTACK
      Sophomore Rachel Vidourek has paced UT in kills on nine occasions this season, including 16 kills, .400 ATK% (16-4-30) and a match-high seven rejections against Robert Morris (Sept. 18).
      Vidourek has recorded a team-high 64 blocks this season (0.82 bps) and a .299 ATK%.
      A native of Oxford, OH, Vidourek transferred to UT after sitting out her freshman campaign at Big East Conference member Marquette. She tallied a .250 attack percentage to go along with 2.29 kills and 0.79 per set for the Rockets as a redshirt freshman.
 
ROCKETS IN MAC RANKINGS (as of 10/21)
      Rachel Vidourek ranks eighth in the MAC with a .299 ATK%...Maurissa Leonard is fifth with 4.71 dps and is first in league matches with 5.77 dps...Alex Hines is seventh with 9.27 aps.
      Toledo ranks fourth in the MAC as a team with 16.02 digs per set. UT is third in league play with 16.90 digs per set.
 
ROCKETS VS. THIS WEEK'S FOES
• Toledo leads the all-time series 27-24 against the Golden Flashes. UT saw its seven-game winning vs. Kent State end with a 3-0 setback at home last year.
• The Rockets trails their all-time series vs. Ohio, 33-16, and have not defeated the Bobcats since the 1999 campaign.
 
A LOOK AHEAD
      The Rockets will travel to Muncie, IN to battle Ball State (9-13, 3-5 MAC) on Thursday, Oct. 29 before hosting Akron (7-14, 1-7 MAC) on Saturday, Oct. 31.
            UT will then play its final two road contests of the season when it visits Northern Illinois (11-9, 7-1 MAC) on Friday, Nov. 6 and Western Michigan (10-13, 6-2 MAC) on Saturday, Nov. 7.
