TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo men's tennis team was unable to complete the comeback on Friday, March 14, losing 4-3 to Detroit Mercy at Shadow Valley Tennis Club. 

"If we put our six BCS opponents in one hand and our 4-3 losses in the other, I think we have our hands full of losses," head coach Al Wermer said. "However, it is fortunately helping us get better and that is a good thing."

The Rockets lost the doubles point, falling in two of three matches, as sophomore Garrett Cona and freshman Stjepan Sisko grabbed the only victory, winning 8-3 in No. 1 doubles.

The Midnight Blue & Gold came firing back in singles play, as Sisko earned a straight set victory in No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-3, and junior Nicky Wong was victorious, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 2 singles slot in three sets.

Junior Roberto Meza also earned a three-set victory in the No. 6 singles spot, winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-0, while sophomore Ryan Jorgensen and Cona fell in three sets in No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively.

The Rockets are back in action on Saturday, when they welcome Bradley to the Glass City. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at Shadow Valley.
