TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo men's tennis team couldn't quite complete the comeback, as the Rockets fell 4-3 to IPFW on Sunday, Feb. 2 at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
Toledo falls to 2-8 on the season.
“We're going to be far better than what we're showing right now,” head coach Al Wermer said. “We are extremely consistent at being inconsistent. I'm confident we'll get much better.”
The Rockets lost two of three doubles matches, with their lone win coming from sophomore Garrett Cona (Silver Lake, OH) and freshman Stjepan Sisko (Kastel Stari) in the No. 2 doubles slot.
Toledo would go on to win the top three singles matches as well. Sisko took home a win in the No. 2 spot, while juniors Mark Singnil (Samutsakorn, Thailand) and Nicky Wong (Mansfield, OH) in No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.
In the No. 5 singles match, Cona took his opponent to a crucial third set, but fell 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 to clinch the match for IPFW.
The Rockets are off until Friday, Feb. 14, when they host a doubleheader at Shadow Valley against Wayne State and Dayton.
