TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo men's tennis team couldn't cap off the weekend with its third win, falling to Wisconsin-Green Bay 6-1 on Sunday morning at Shadow Valley Tennis Club.
"Green Bay is very sold and they outplayed us today," head coach Al Wermer said. "Unfortunately, inconsistency has been our trend. At the very worst, this was a 4-3 loss at our fingertips, but we couldn't keep the train on the tracks. We'll keep working and we have the potential."
With the loss, Toledo's record dropped to 5-9.
Junior Mark Singnil continued his dominance, winning his seventh straight match to improve to 10-3 on the season with a 6-3, 6-2 victory in No. 1 singles. Singnil has won eight of nine matches in the No. 1 slot.
Fellow junior Roberto Meza and freshman Boris Pak kept their undefeated record intact, winning a tough 6-5 decision in No. 3 doubles. The duo is 4-0 on the season.
The Rockets lost the remaining seven matches on the day, but received a strong performance from sophomore Ryan Jorgensen in the No. 6 singles spot. Jorgensen won the first set, before falling in sets two and three to lose the match.
Toledo will travel to Bloomington, IN on Friday, Feb. 21 for a match against Indiana at 7:00 p.m. The next day, the Rockets will have a doubleheader in Indianapolis against Butler and IUPUI.
