9/1/2012 3:46:00 AM

ROCHESTER, MI - Toledo could never get untracked on Friday evening as the Rockets suffered a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) setback at Oakland (1-3) in its first match of this weekend's Golden Grizzlies Invitational.

Junior OH Lauren Rafdal topped UT offensively with nine kills, while junior MB Dakota Harkins contributed six kills and a team-best .231 attack percentage. Senior libero McCall Paynter topped the Rockets' defensive efforts in the back row with sophomore MB Brooke Frazer leading the way at the net with a team-high two blocks.

"We have to play harder if we're going to beat a team like Oakland," Toledo Head Coach Greg Smith said. "We have to put this behind us and come back tomorrow with a much better effort."

Senior Meghan Bray paced Oakland with a match-high 15 kills, and sophomore OH Taylor Humm added a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs.

The Golden Grizzlies were clicking offensively throughout and posted a .352 hitting mark. Toledo was at the other end of the spectrum, notching a .085 ATK%.

Toledo is back in action tomorrow with matches vs. Iowa at 10:00 a.m. and Eastern Illinois at 4:30 p.m. The Hawkeyes (4-1) posted a 3-2 (32-30, 25-13, 24-26, 25-20) victory over the Panthers (2-2) in the first match today.
