TOLEDO, OH - Toledo's Senior Night was spoiled by Mid-American Conference West Division leader Western Michigan (18-9, 11-3 MAC) on Saturday evening as the Broncos downed the Rockets by a 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-19) margin.
Senior OH Sondra Parys paced the Rockets (8-19, 2-12 MAC) in her final match in Savage Arena with a match-best 19 kills and .381 ATK%. She was joined in double figures by junior OH Jordan Kielty and junior MB Dakota Harkins with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior OH Lauren Rafdal did not play due to injury.
Sophomore MB Brooke Frazer was UT's defensive leader at the net with four blocks, while freshman libero Celina Diaz tallied a match-high 19 digs in the back row.
Junior OH Ali Gossen and freshman MB Stephenee Yancy shared team kill honors for Western Michigan with 15 apiece. Senior MB Jessica Brown topped the Broncos with a match-high six blocks and helped WMU post a 10-7 advantage in the block department.
Junior libero Lena Oliver tallied a team-high 17 digs and three service aces and helped the visitors enjoy a decisive 9-1 margin on the serving line.
Toledo wraps up its 2012 campaign next weekend with road matches as Central Michigan on Friday, Nov. 9 and Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 10. Both matches are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
