BOWLING GREEN, OH - Toledo's softball team came up on the short end of a 9-1 decision at Bowling Green on Sunday in a contest at Meserve Field.

The Falcons scored runs in every inning, while the Rockets were limited to just five hits.

BGSU jumped on the board quickly, putting up three runs on a successful squeeze play and a two-run homer to left in the first.

UT's offense cracked through in the second. Kattie Palmer doubled off the wall in left-center, and Melissa Rons battled back from an 0-2 count to line a single into right to plate Palmer. Kate Ricchio slapped a single into center, but UT couldn't do any more damage as the score remained 3-1.

In the second, BGSU loaded the bases with two outs, and a walk resulted in a run to make it 4-1.

Ricchio made a nice sliding catch at the warning track in center to rob potential extra bases in the bottom of the third, but a solo homer to left with two down made it 5-1, and the Falcons scored four times in their half of the fourth. Toledo couldn't answer with a tally of its own in the fifth after Ricchio reached third.

Ricchio went 2-for-3, while Erinn Wright also had a hit for Toledo, which dropped to 7-26 (1-5 MAC) with the loss.

The Rockets continue conference play with four games next weekend. Toledo hosts Northern Illinois in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday, followed by single contests at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday against Western Michigan. All games are at Scott Park.
