SOUTH BEND, IN - In their final day of competition at the ITA Midwest Regional, the remaining duo of Knot Likitkumchorn and Leo Sarria dropped a tough doubles match in round two, falling to the 10th-seeded team from Notre Dame.
Knot and Leo competed in round two of the doubles draw after advancing on Friday. They were defeated 8-2 by the team of Fitzgerald and Talmadge from host Notre Dame, ending Toledo's appearance in the Regional tournament.
Several Rockets also competed in consolation matches, with Likitkumchorn earning a 6-2, default win over Notre Dame's Matt Johnson, while senior Aleksandar Elezovic dropped a tough tough 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 match to Michigan's Chris Cha.
"This ended up being a fairly underwhelming event for us," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "We are going to have a great year as a team, no doubt in my mind. This weekend will serve as an excellent learning experience and motivator."
The Rockets will wrap up their fall schedule Oct. 29-Nov. 3 as they compete in the USTA $10,000 Futures Event in Bluewater Bay, FL.
