10/4/2009 1:15:00 AM

MT. PLEASANT, MI - Toledo's struggles against Central Michigan continued on Saturday evening as the Rockets (10-6, 1-3 MAC) dropped a 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-22) decision to the Chippewas (9-5, 3-1 MAC) in Rose Arena.  UT's defeat was its sixth straight against CMU with its last win in the series coming in the first round of the 2006 MAC Tournament.

Senior MB Sarah Wilson paced the Rocket attack with 10 kills with freshman OH Sondra Parys tallying eight kills. Wilson also recorded a team and season-best six blocks. Junior DS Katie Westerfeld also collected a team-high 15 digs.

Senior OH Lauren Krupsky spearheaded the Chippewas' offense with 16 kills.

Central Michigan held a .217-.144 advantage in attack percentage

The Rockets were victimized by a six-point spurt by the hosts in the first set after climbing within 14-13. UT didn't quit though and rallied to within three points on three occasions but it wasn't enough.

Toledo fell behind 6-1 early in the second set and rallied to within 7-4 following a timeout. That was as close as the Rockets would come though as CMU expanded their lead to 17-8 en route to a 2-0 advantage.

A pair of Wilson kills gave Toledo a 14-13 advantage in the third set but the Chippewas answered with a four-point spurt. The Rockets responded with a 4-0 run of their own sparked by an ace and kill from sophomore OH Amber DeWeerdt and a Parys kill.  CMU then took a 20-18 lead and Parys put one home to bring UT within a point. CMU tallied the next two points though and the closest the Rockets could come was 22-20 and 24-22.

Toledo returns to action with a pair of home matches against Ball State (8-9, 1-3 MAC) on Thursday, Oct. 8 and Akron (9-9, 1-3 MAC) on Saturday, Oct. 10.
