Toledo at Kansas Game Notes

Toledo wrapped up its three-game series with Kansas and tallied a 1-2 record. The Rockets lost both contests in Lawrence (63-14, 2004 and 45-13, 2007) and claimed a 37-31 double overtime victory in the Glass Bowl last season.
Sophomore RB DaJuane Collins rushed the ball 14 times for a career-high 102 yards, including a seven-yard TD run. Collins' previous career high was 92 yards against McNeese State on Sept. 23, 2006.
Senior OL David Perkins started at center, in place of sophomore Buster Garrett. Perkins has now started 34 games in his collegiate career on the offensive line at three different positions (21 games at left guard, 12 at right guard and 1 at center).
Senior DE Bernard Faithful tallied UT's first sack of the season on Kansas' initial drive of the game. It was also Faithful's first career full sack. He also recovered a fumble in the opening 15 minutes.
The Rockets finished the contest with a season-high four sacks. It was the first sacks of the season for UT. Senior Bernard Faithful, redshirt freshman Joe Underwood (five tackles, team-best 2.0 tackles for loss) and sophomore Matt Shumaker were each credited with a sack, while seniors Tyree Pollard and Greg Hay registered a half-sack apiece.
Freshman OL Kevin Kowalski saw his first collegiate action of the season and drew the start at right guard.
Sophomores Maurice Hill and Lester Richmond both forced fumbles in the first quarter. For both players, the forced fumble was the first in their respective careers.
Junior WR Nick Moore completed his second career pass in the second quarter for a 21-yard TD toss. Moore also recorded a 47-yard TD pass against Central Michigan last weekend.
Senior RB Jalen Parmele carried the ball a team-high 16 times for 88 yards. In two career contests against the Jayhawks, Parmele has rushed the ball 30 times for 168 yards and two scores.
Senior P Brett Kern punted the ball a career-high 10 times for a 42.0 average, including five inside the 20 yard-line.
Sophomore CB Walter Atkins led the Rockets with a career-high nine tackles and two pass break ups. Atkins' previous career-high was six stops against Akron on Oct. 28, 2006.
Sophomore LB Beau Brudzinski also had a career day and finished with a collegiate-best seven stops, bettering his previous best of two tackles on two occasions.
