Eastern Michigan at Toledo ? Post-Game Quotes

Nov. 3, 2007

Toledo, OH - Glass Bowl

Tom Amstutz

“I thought it was a good, solid team win. The offense was again run sharp by Aaron (Opelt). We did a good job mixing up the pass and the run. Our offensive line did a good job opening up holes for our running backs, and giving Aaron time to throw the ball.”

“On defense, we had our moments where we stepped up and made plays. We had a key interception and some decent play in the first half.”

(comments on Jalen Parmele)

“He's the heart-and-soul of our offense. He's a force in there. He can break a tackle and make a big run. He's a special player and he had another outstanding night.”

Eastern Michigan came in here fired up. They had some special-made t-shirt. A couple of our seniors didn't appreciate them wearing those t-shirts on our field. I think that helped motivate us a little bit.”

Senior RB Jalen Parmele

“Our offense is really coming together. We've been working hard in practice, getting in shape and it's showing on the field.”

(comments on establishing running game)

It's very important. It challenges the defense to where they try to stop the run and it leaves the pass open. It keeps our offense balanced.”

(comments on last game in Glass Bowl)

It's a sad thought. I love playing here. I've played here four years. It's bee a great experience, and it's great to come out with a win.”

Sophomore Safety Barry Church

“When we got up 14-0 it forced them (Eastern Michigan) to pass more. I think our secondary took advantage of that.”

(comments on t-shirts that said “Beat Toledo”)

“That kind of made us upset. It kind of disrespected us on our field, so we came out with a whole bunch of fire.”

“We're back to .500 (5-5 for the season). Now we're looking forward to the Ball State game. It's a big, big game. Hopefully we can come away with a victory.”

Sophomore WR Stephen Williams

“Nick (Moore) had a big game last week so I knew they were going to pressure him. He stepped up again early. He had three catches in a row. So I just waited my time.”

(comments on Toledo's offense)

“It's fun. It's a good feeling getting so many yards. It just brings fun to practice. Everybody's happy and excited.”

(comments on long TD pass)

“I was looking for it and I thought, “I'd better run a little faster.” I saw Aaron (Opelt) just heave it. I just ran as fast as I could. Aaron threw it to me right on stride.”
