10/27/2007 4:00:00 AM

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (3-20, 0-12 MAC) closed out its 2007 home campaign this afternoon with a 3-0 (30-20, 30-23, 30-26) setback to Central Michigan (18-8, 7-5 MAC).

Senior OH TaNeisha Winters led the Rockets with 13 kills and was the only UT player to reach double-digits in kills. On the defensive end, junior Lori Ruth, freshman Katie Westerfeld and Winters each collected eight digs to lead Toledo.

Kate Fissel paced CMU with a match-high 14 kills, while Whitney Evers tallied 11 kills and a .611 attack percentage. As a team, the Chippewas posted a .343 hitting mark and limited UT to a .148 attack percentage.

Central Michigan took an early lead in the first game, but UT was able to stay within striking distance until the Chippewas scored four straight points to take a 24-20 lead. Winters was on fire for the Rockets offensively with seven kills, while Fissel led the way for CMU with five terminations and three service aces.

The second game was tighter and Toledo took a 9-6 lead to force the Chippewas to call a timeout. The stoppage sparked a 9-2 CMU run and put the Rockets in a 16-11 deficit. UT did climb back within a point at 17-16 and 18-17 but couldn't score the equalizer. Winters again led the way for UT's offense with six kills, while Fissel matched her total with six kills of her own.

Toledo surged to a 7-2 lead in the third game but CMU whittled away its deficit before going ahead 12-11. The Rockets did come within 27-25 at the end of the game but couldn't get any closer.

UT will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 1 when it travels to Muncie, IN to face Ball State.
