OH - Glass Bowl
Head Coach Tom Amstutz
“Football is a funny game. It's just one of those things. We got some momentum going. Aaron was really sharp and in control of the offense. We got a little momentum and caught fire.”
“I give our guys credit for staying focused and working through our season. It's a sign of leadership, senior leadership especially. They have the guys still playing hard, still wanting to get better each week. I'm really proud of them for that.”
(on Opelt)
“22-of-28, that's pretty good football. He threw the ball very accurately and took very good care of the football.”
“Our defense is getting better. We're continuing to work and adjust our personnel.”
Sophomore QB Aaron Opelt
“We felt good. We had a good week of practice. We felt we had a good gameplan. Everything worked out for us and we had a really good game.”
“It's nice to be able to relax in the fourth quarter. The offensive line played very well. I don't think I got hit at all. The receivers made big plays. It felt good as an offensive unit to get the job done like that.”
“When you have time to wait for your second or third look that says something about your offensive line. A big win like this give us a lot of momentum for these last three games.”
Junior WR Nick Moore
“Oh man, it's just good to get a win. The three games we won before were close, so to go out there and win by a large margin feels good.”
“I think everybody is focused better. Everybody is talking about finishing 7-5. Six wins and you're bowl eligible. I was talking to Aaron (Opelt) before the game and I told him I felt good. I'm just glad he had the confidence to trust me to make those plays.”
NIU Head Coach Joe Novak
“I would have liked to get in their way a little bit but we didn't at all. I knew they would throw the ball and knew they would score some points but I was more worried about their running game. They threw the ball very well tonight and we didn't defend.”
“We have been struggling the last few weeks, not tackling the good backs. Their kids are real good players. We certainly didn't tackle either of them and that's partly their credit.”
