Ohio at Toledo

Oct. 20, 2007

Toledo, OH (Glass Bowl)

* Toledo converted a 40-yard field goal with two-seconds left in regulation to claim the 43-40 victory. It was UT's third game this season decided by three points or less. The Rockets are a perfect 3-0 in those games.

* Toledo forced a season-high eight turnovers, including four interceptions. The eight turnovers are the second-most miscues forced by the Rockets in school history (the school record is 10 against Ball State on Sept. 8, 1984). Coming into tonight's contest, the Rockets had a total of three interceptions in the first seven games.

* With tonight's victory, the Rockets improved to 41-6 in the last 47 games in the Glass Bowl. The streak goes back to the middle of the 1999 season. Since 2003, the Rockets are 22-5 in the Glass Bowl, the 18th-best mark in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

* Toledo scored a season-high 43 points and finished with 473 yards of total offense. It marked the 28th time in six-plus seasons under Tom Amstutz that the Rockets have tallied at least 40 points in a game.

* Senior RB Jalen Parmele carried the ball a career-high 38 times for a career-best 241 yards and two touchdowns. Parmele's 241 yards are the third-most in school history and most in a single UT game since Chester Taylor scampered for 230 yards against Northern Illinois on Nov. 4, 2000, while his 38 carries are tied for the fifth-most in UT annals.

* It was Parmele's fourth-consecutive game over 100 yards, tied for fifth-longest streak of 100-yard games in school history, and ninth of his career, which is tied for eighth in UT annals. The senior co-captain also rushed for at least 100 yards in four-consecutive contests last year.

* With tonight's effort, Parmele moved into fifth place in school history in career yards rushing with 2,640 yards and still 10th in rushing attempts with 508.

* Sophomore PK Alex Steigerwald booted a career-best three field goals (19-yarder on UT's opening drive, 35-yarder in second quarter and career-long 40-yarder in fourth quarter) and is a perfect 9-of-9 this season and 16-of-17 in his career. Steigerwald ranks first in school history, converting 94.1 percent of his field-goal attempts with a minimum of 10 field-goals made.

* Sophomore WR Stephen Williams hauled with a game-high eight catches for 107 yards. Williams has topped the century four times this season, including back-to-back contests. Over the last two games, he has totaled 23 catches for 279 yards.

Freshman S Drey'Lon Pree made his first career start and finished with a career-high six tackles and one interception, which he returned for 19 yards in the third quarter.

* Sophomore QB Aaron Opelt returned to the lineup after missing the last two games with an injury. Opelt finished the game 19-of-39 for 204 yards, including a 23-yard TD pass in the third quarter.

* Sophomore DE Skylaar Constant appeared in the starting lineup for the second time this season and totaled one tackle. Constant also started the game at Central Michigan on Sept. 8.

* For the fourth time in the last five games, the Rockets scored on their opening possession with a 19-yard field goal by Alex Steigerwald. UT's drive covered nine yards on three plays and took up 2:13. The scoring drive was setup by a 74-yard kickoff return from Jalen Parmele.

* Sophomore S Barry Church recorded his second interception of the season in the second quarter and has six picks in his career. Church tied for the team high with eight tackles and has led the Rockets in stops three times this season.

* Redshirt freshman DE Alex Johnson picked off his first career pass in the first quarter and finished with six tackles, including one tackle-for-loss and one quarterback hurry.

* Junior WR Nick Moore returned to the lineup after missing the last two games with an injury and hauled in six passes for 63 yards, including a 23-yard TD reception in the third quarter.

* Toledo held a sizable 35:15-24:45 edge in time of possession. Entering tonight's game, the Rockets were second in the MAC, averaging 30:47.
