“They're a real good team. (referring to Buffalo) They work hard, fight hard. I knew it was going to be a good match, but we did not come out as fast or as hard or ready to play.”

Senior Safety Greg Hay

“I know we felt ready, but we have to perform better in the first half. A lot better.”

 

“He's a great running back he's a hard runner, and he did a good job today. He was making a lot of plays for them.” (referring to Starks)

 

“We came in the locker room pissed off, and we knew we could play better than that and it showed in the second half that we would keep fighting.”

 

“It was very frustrating. We've got to figure out something that sparks us before the game and we'll be able to get that momentum in the first half.”

 

“The wind was definitely blowing around , but you cant use that as an excuse for coming out and not executing our plays.”

 

Freshman QB D.J. Lenehan

“They had a good front and good linebackers, and a good defense out there. Our protection was pretty good, but I tried to make things happen and I couldn't get the ball out of my hands.”

 

“They had a good set up for stopping the screens. We took what the defense would give us, and we did whatever we had to do, but we just didn't come out with a “W” today.”

 

Head Coach Tom Amstutz:

“It's a nightmare, but I give Buffalo credit. They came out there ready to play, they had good energy, and they made a great check and ran an option play for a touchdown, and our coverage wasn't very good then on the first kick off, but I give Buffalo credit for being ready to play and score that 14 points.”

 

“But we still had a lot of game to play, and our team still battled, and we were fighting the whole game trying to get back into the ball game.”

 

“I thought that DJ, once again for a true freshman, came out there and did a nice job scoring points for our offense. It's a lot in his lap for a true freshman in his second game. So I was please with his effort and I thought that the effort by our players was good.”

 

“We were shorthanded in defense and that showed up today. When you face a real good running back and offense it is very motivating.”

 

“We saw last week, we saw Buffalo as an improving team. We saw their tailback, and we respect the quarterback, he's a good hitting ball player. They are an improving football team.”

 

“We know he's a speedy, hard running kid. He's a good football player.” (referring to Starks)

 

“We were shorthanded, but I'm still proud of our players. They still played the whole game hard, they still fought to get back into the ball game, and I guess right now character is more important than our performance in the game.”

 

“Steven has some special talent, he's a good football player, and he has good size and we like to see him contribute to the game.” (referring to Stephen Williams)

 

“This is football. You play the game, you have to evaluate it; look it over, and you make some adjustments. We have three home games coming up, all big teams, so we have to prepare and work hard, and try to see if we can come away with a victory.”
