Rockets Fall by 3-0 Margin at Kent State

KENT, OH - Toledo let a chance to extend tonight's match at Kent State to four games slip away as the Golden Flashes registered a 3-0 (30-20, 30-22, 31-29) victory over the Rockets. UT's record drops to 3-15 overall and 0-7 in the MAC with the defeat, while KSU's ledger improves to 14-6 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

Senior OH TaNeisha Winters led the Rockets' attack with 11 kills, with sophomore MB Liz Sundburg (5-1-8) posting a team-best .500 attack percentage. On the defensive front, Winters and junior libero Lori Ruth led UT with 11 digs while sophomore S Mallory Ladd collected 10 digs to go along with 34 assists.

Kent State was led by Ashley Feutz's 12 kills with Lauren Jones contributing 10 terminations and a .500 hitting mark. The Golden Flashes registered 16 team blocks in the match led by Feutz's seven blocks.

Kent State opened the match with a convincing 30-20 win in the first game. In the second game, KSU built a 10-4 lead before finishing with a 30-22 win for a two-game lead in the match. In the third game, the Rockets scored five straight points to take a 21-16 lead and increased its advantage to six at 27-21 before the Golden Flashes started their comeback. Facing defeat at 29-25, Kent State held off UT by scoring the final six points of the game. 

Toledo returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. matchup vs. No. 21-ranked Ohio in Athens, OH.
