Final Stats

Toledo, OH - Toledo (2-6) dropped a 3-0 (30-23, 30-22, 30-23) decision tonight at IPFW (5-4). The defeat was the Rockets' third straight and the victory extended the Mastodons' winning streak to five matches.

IPFW won the first game thanks to a 5-0 run after UT came back from an early 6-2 deficit to within 12-11. The Mastodons kept that energy going in the second game, taking an early nine-point lead at 15-6. The Rockets led early in the third game until the Mastodons socred four straight points with the score tied at 17-17. Toledo did come within 21-20 and 23-21 but the Mastodons closed the game out by scoring seven of the match's final nine points.

"We didn't perform very well tonight," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "We were able to look at some different lineups, but we still need to solidify some areas and get a higher level of performance,"

The Rockets were led by senior OH Kate Bean with 11 kills and freshman S Mallory Ladd posted 27 assists. Freshman Ashley Rucki dug 14 balls, while senior Lora Sarich and Bean each had 10 digs. Sarich now is UT's career dig leader with 1,441 digs.

The Rockets will now prepare for the Kentucky Classic in Lexington, KY on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9. UT will face Georgia Tech, Villanova and the host Wildcats.
