Final Stats

Muncie, IN - The University of Toledo softball team lost a tough 4-3 Mid American Conference game at Ball State on Saturday afternoon at the BSU Softball Field. The Rockets fall to 12-27, 3-7 in the MAC and take on the Cardinals in the series finale tomorrow at 1 p.m.

The Rockets jumped out to a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning, before a three-run Cardinal third inning helped clinch the BSU victory.

After an Alison Hess walk and a Valerie Moxim single got the Rockets started in the second, Megan McCauley hit a double for the third consecutive game and scored Hess. A single by Denise Van Vossen scored McCauley later in the inning, putting the Rockets on top 2-1.

With the tying run on second in the Rockets' last at-bat in the top of the seventh, Moxim struck out looking to end the game.

Van Vossen let Toledo with a 2-2 effort at the plate, including a triple, a run scored and an RBI. Stephanie Moore gave up seven hits and three earned runs to fall to 6-15 on the mound.

The two teams battle again tomorrow in the series finale at the BSU Softball Complex. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
