YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Justin Ingram scored 23 points to lead Toledo to a 70-59 win over Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night.
The Rockets (14-10, 7-8 Mid-American) used 12-2 and 13-6 runs to open each half and pushed their lead to as many as 20 points in the second.
Sammy Villegas scored nine of his 14 points in the first half to pace the Rockets, who were 13-for-29 (45 percent) from the field before halftime.
Eastern Michigan's John Bowler, who went to the free-throw line 24 times for 17 points, had game-highs of 29 points and 15 rebounds. Danny McElhinny came off the bench to add 14 points for the Eagles (6-18, 2-13).
Toledo's defense held the Eagles to 16-of-43 (37 percent) shooting for the game and created 24 turnovers, including 14 steals. Eastern Michigan also struggled shooting from behind the arc, making five of its 21 3-point attempts.
Ingram helped ice the game by scoring his team's last six points from the free-throw line.
