KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Derek Fracalossi hit four consecutive free throws in the final 28 seconds, scoring his only points of the game, and Western Michigan held on to defeat Toledo 57-53 on Wednesday night.
Brian Snider led Western (9-11, 6-4 Mid-American Conference) with 17 points and a game-high six assists as the Broncos extended the MAC's longest current win streak to five.
Florentino Valencia scored a game-high 20 points on 10-of-13 shooting for Toledo (10-9, 3-8), which lost its second straight.
Joe Reitz added 15 points for Western and Andrew Hershberger scored 12, and each led the Broncos' 38-26 rebounding advantage with eight boards each.
Keonta Howell scored 14 for Toledo and Justin Ingram added 10.
Toledo had 11 steals, almost two above its league-leading average, but the Rockets went more than nine minutes without a basket in the second half. During that stretch, Western increased its lead from two points to just six because the Broncos' only basket was scored by Snider.
The Rockets missed 7-of-9 free throws, including two misses by Kashif Payne with 31 seconds left and Toledo trailing by two. Toledo made 43.6 percent of its shots overall.
