BOWLING GREEN, OH - Toledo (14-35, 4-15 MAC) was swept by arch-rival Bowling Green (31-14, 11-7 MAC) on Sunday afternoon, suffering a 9-2 setback before 420 fans at Warren Steller Field.
Junior LHP Joe Welsh (0-9) was tagged with the loss and allowed four runs on eight hits with two strikeouts in six innings of action.
Freshman Scott Boley (2-for-4, run scored) was the only UT player to record more than one hit in the series finale.
Toledo jumped out to an early 2-0 thanks to four-consecutive hits in the frame, including a two-run single by junior Jason Watson.
Bowling Green quickly countered with two runs of its own in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Nolan Reimold and a RBI double by Kevin Longstreth.
The score would remain the same until the bottom of the sixth frame when BGSU's Andy Hudak belted a two-run home run to give the home team an advantage it would not surrender.
The Falcons then finished off the scoring with five insurance runs in eighth to make the final score 9-2.
BGSU's Burke Badenhop (9-2) picked up the win and surrendered two runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts.
