Toledo (4-0) remained unbeaten with its 3-0 (30-16, 30-28, 30-26) victory over Austin Peay (0-6) in its lone match of the day at the Middle Tennessee State Invitational. The Rockets will play two matches tomorrow vs. Chattanooga at 10:00 a.m. and the host Blue Raiders at 7:00 p.m.
The Rockets utilized a balanced offensive attack in the triumph with four players registering double figures in kills. Senior OH Rachel Mohler and sophomore OH Kate Bean led the way with 13 kills apiece with junior MB Corrie Magnus (12 kills) and junior MB Kelsey Culver (11 kills) also in double digits. Culver and Mohler each registered a team-best .400 attack percentage with Magnus hitting at a .375 clip.
"Kelsey (Culver) and Rachel (Mohler) were both came through with some big plays for us at important times," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "Austin Peay is a good serving team and we didn't pass as well as we needed to. As a result, we struggled offensively and that caused us to be inconsistent."
Freshman setter Emi Holsclaw collected a team-high eight digs along with 46 assists in the contest while guiding UT's attack to a .270 team attack percentage. Bean and Magnus led the way for the Rockets at the net with three blocks apiece.
