Final Stats
TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo baseball team (8-16) utilized balanced production from both its hitters and pitchers to record an 11-5 triumph over Adrian (13-9) this afternoon in non-conference action at Scott Park.
Eight Rocket starters earned a hit, with four belting doubles. They were seniors Shawn Hurst (2-for-4, three runs scored, one RBI, 2B) and Sean Dobson (2-for-5, two runs scored, two 2B), junior Dan Ruth (3-for-5, three RBI, run scored, 2B) and sophomore Dan Stong (1-for-5, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, 2B).
Other key contributors to the Rockets' attack included freshman 2B Nate Pretzlaf (3-for-5, RBI, run scored) and senior 1B Doug Yoder (1-for-4, 2 RBI).
Four pitchers appeared in the contest for the Midnight Blue and Gold, recording 10 strikeouts and helping UT improve to 2-0 this season at home.
Freshman Matt Meinberg (1-1) earned his first collegiate win. Meinberg received the start and pitched six strong innings, giving up one run while striking out six.
Toledo scored one run in the first, four in the second, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the seventh to snap a four-game losing streak. The Bulldogs tallied a run in the third and two each in the eighth and ninth, but it would not be enough to hoist them past the Rockets.
The Rockets return to action on Friday, April 9, when they begin a three-game series with MAC West Division foe Central Michigan at Scott Park. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
