Toledo (16-10, 5-8 MAC) notched its first conference road win of the season tonight with a 3-1 (30-25, 27-30, 30-23, 30-24) victory at Buffalo (7-19, 0-13 MAC).
The Rockets featured a balanced offensive attack with senior OH Rachel Mohler (19 kills), sophomore OH Kate Bean (15 kills) and junior MB Kelsey Culver (13 kills) each reaching double figures in kills. "We played a pretty solid match tonight but we struggled a little bit in Game Two," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "Sarah Kreher did a nice job tonight switching from right-side hitter to setter after the second game. It was a nice win for us and we'll try to build on this against Marshall on Saturday."
Toledo jumped on the Bulls early in the first game by bolting out to a 10-1 advantage behind senior OH Rachel Mohler's four kills. Mohler would finish the game with seven kills to help UT to a .286 hitting mark. UB rebounded though to capture the second game with a .250 ATK% marking the only game the Bulls hit over .100.
The third game was tight throughout until UT went on an 8-1 run to end the game featuring two kills, two blocks and a service ace.
The Rockets avoided a fifth game by rallying from a 15-9 deficit. UT tied the contest at 16-16 and then pulled away with five straight points with the score tied at 18-18.
Toledo continues its road swing on Saturday, Nov. 6 with a 7:00 p.m. contest at Marshall.
