Final Stats
TOLEDO, OH -
Sophomore OH Kate Bean's career-high 21 kills went for naught tonight as Toledo (11-4, 1-4 MAC) suffered a 3-1 (28-30, 30-17, 30-27, 30-22) setback to arch-rival Bowling Green (10-7, 3-2 MAC) at Savage Hall. It was the second 3-1 loss for the Rockets to the Falcons this season as well UT's fifth straight setback to BGSU.
In addition to her career-best kill mark, Bean posted a team-best .319 attack percentage and 10 digs. Senior OH Rachel Mohler was the only other Rocket in double figures for kills with 11. UT opened the match on fire by posting a .359 team ATK% but struggled the rest of the way en route to a .162 hitting mark. Redshirt freshman S Sarah Kreher collected 46 assists as well as 11 digs in her first start of the season.
Bowling Green was led by senior MB Taylor Twite's 19 kills and .400 ATK% followed by freshman OH Maggie Karges' 15 kills and .414 ATK%. As a team, the Falcons registered a .258 ATK% and hit over .300 in both the second and fourth games. Senior MB Melissa Mohr registered a team-high seven blocks and helped the Falcons outblock the Rockets by an 11-4 margin.
The turning point of the match appeared to be in the third game when UT let a 26-22 lead slip away and never was able to recover. The Falcons were able to close out the match with an 8-1 run and take advantage of four Toledo attack errors, one service error while registering two kills and one service ace of their own.
Toledo returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. matchup vs. Western Michigan at Savage Hall.
