Toledo (5-18, 2-8 MAC) lost both games (2-1, 13-5) of its doubleheader this afternoon at arch-rival Bowling Green (13-17-1, 4-5 MAC).
In the first game, the Falcons' Liz Vrabel limited the Rockets to two hits and held UT hitless for the first five innings.
Bowling Green plated both of its runs in the third inning on C Jennifer Kernahan's two-out two-run double.
UT then came within a run in the sixth when on sophomore P Kim Pettit's sacrifice fly. Senior 3B Vicki Nelson then was thrown out trying to steal third base to end the inning.
Pettitt (1-11) took the loss for the Rockets in a complete-game effort, allowing five hits and two runs (one earned).
In the second game, Toledo jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI from sophomore C Jessica Horn and a two-out two-run double from redshirt freshman 1B Heidi Smith.
The Falcons answered right back in their half of the first by scoring five runs off sophomore Keri Perkins (4-7).
The Rockets were able to get one run back in the second on Horn's RBI double, the Falcons then scored four more runs in the second to chase Perkins from the contest.
Toledo will return to action on Tuesday, April 8 when it travels to the University of Dayton for a single game against the Flyers. The Rockets will then return home to face Marshall on Wednesday, April 9 in a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
