Williamsville, NY - The University of Toledo men's tennis team defeated Buffalo, 5-2, yesterday at the Village Glen Tennis Center in Williamsville, NY. With the victory the Rockets improve to 6-11 overall and 1-1 in conference play, while the Bulls fall to 11-11 overall and 1-4 in the MAC.
In singles action, sophomore Khalid Al Nabhani defeated Fery Kasiman (6-1, 6-3) at the No. 1 singles spot, while sophomore Todd Wojtkowski downed Josh Liederman (6-2, 6-1) in No. 3 singles action. Sophomore Tony Tran upended Nick Zieziula (3-6, 6-3, 10-6) at the No. 4 spot, while fellow sophomore Mirsad Begic downed Ivan Chamdani (6-2, 6-0) at the No. 6 singles spot.
In doubles action, Al Nabhani and Tran downed Rocchio and Zieziula, 8-5, at the No. 1 spot. Gomez and Rao defeated Kasiman and Rohan Raikar at No. 2 doubles spot, 8-4, while Begic and Wojtkowski won a 9-8 decision at the No. 3 spot.
"I'm pleased with the effort we showed today," Toledo Head Men's Tennis Coach Al Wermer said. "Hopefully we can continue this type of play and get back on the winning track."
The Rockets will continue conference play as they host Northern Illinois on Saturday, April 12. Action will start at 1:00 p.m.
