BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Junior guard Keith Triplett scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the
second half as Toledo defeated Bowling Green, 68-64, on Saturday at Anderson Arena. It is the second time in the last three years UT has swept the season series with the Falcons.
The Rockets (13-15, 7-11 Mid-American Conference) led 34-26 at the half and
never trailed after that. The Falcons came within two twice in the final minute, on John Reimold's three-pointer with 38 seconds to go and his two free
throws with seven seconds left.
Toledo was able to stave of Bowling Green's comeback attempt by shooting 8-for-8 from the line in the second half including six in the final 49.6 seconds.
Triplett, who shot 10-for-18 from the field, was perfect on four free-throw attempts. Senior guard Nick Moore was the only other Rocket in double figures with 15 points. Freshman guard Chauncey Shelton came off the bench to tally a season-high eight points and hit a pair of key free throws with 14.2 seconds remaining and UT's lead down to 64-62.
Reimold and Ron Lewis each finished with 18 points and Kevin Netter had 17
for Bowling Green (12-15, 8-10).
The Rockets will be the No. 12 seed in the MAC Tournament and travel to Kalamazoo, MI on Monday, March 10 to battle No. 5 seed Western Michigan (18-9, 10-8). The Broncos registered a 71-67 (OT) triumph at Northern Illinois this afternoon to close out the regular season.
