Toledo, OH - The University of Toledo men's tennis team was defeated by Mid-American Conference foe Ball State, 5-2, this afternoon at Laurel Hill Tennis Club. With the loss, the Rockets fall to 5-11 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
At the No. 3 doubles spot, sophomores Todd Wojtkowski and Mirsad Begic defeated Ball State's Brad Rhodes and Klint Knable, 8-6. UT did not receive a point, as a team must win at least two matches to claim the doubles point.
In singles action, senior Dipesh Rao defeated Matt Baccarani (7-6, 6-3) at the No. 2 singles spot, while sophomore Tony Tran downed Patrick Thompson (7-6, 6-3) in No. 4 singles action.
"We played pretty hard today, but we were unable to capitalize," Toledo Head Men's Tennis Coach Al Wermer said. "We had a couple of concentration lapses, but I was pleased to see we kept fighting."
The Rockets will continue conference play as they travel to Buffalo, NY on April 5 to battle the University of Buffalo. Action will start 1:00 p.m.
