YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - Steve Pettyjohn and Markus Austin each scored 18 points as Eastern Michigan defeated Toledo, 76-72, on Saturday. The victory snapped the Rockets' seven-game winning streak in their series with the Eagles.

The contest was tight throughout and Eastern (10-9, 4-6 MAC) took its biggest lead of the game at 72-64 with 2:45 remaining on a three-pointer by Michael Ross.

Toledo (9-11, 3-7 MAC) cut the lead to 75-72 with 17.6 seconds left on a trey by junior guard Keith Triplett, but a free throw by Austin with 12.7 seconds remaining rounded out the scoring.

Ross had 15 points, six assists and five rebounds and Ryan Prillman added 14 points for the Eagles.

Four players scored in double figures for Toledo, led by Triplett's 19 points. Junior center A.J. Shellabarger scored a career-high 17 points and equalled his career best with 10 rebounds in just 18 minutes of action before fouling out with 3:40 remaining in the game. Senior guard Nick Moore and redshirt freshman guard Sammy Villegas each added 11 points for the Rockets.

Toledo returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 11 when it hosts arch-rival Bowling Green (10-10, 6-6 MAC) at Savage Hall. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
