Toledo, OH - The University of Toledo men's tennis team blanked Youngstown State, 7-0, this afternoon at Laurel Hill Tennis Club. With the victory, UT improves to 2-3 on the season.
In doubles action, the team of senior Dipesh Rao and sophomore Todd Wotjkowski and the team of sophomores Tony Tran and Khalid Al Nabhani claimed victory over the Hornets to give UT the doubles point. There was only two doubles matches due to Youngstown State not having enough players.
In singles action, Rao defeated YSU's R.J. Pepinio (6-3, 6-3) in No. 1 singles, while Wotjkowski downed Mark Posta (6-3, 6-0) at the No. 2 singles spot. Tran upended the Penguins' Kevin Schaffert (6-4, 6-2) in No. 3 singles action, while senior Zach Barden defeated Justin Beck (6-2, 6-3) at the No. 5 singles spot. UT recorded the point at the No. 6 singles spot due to YSU again not having enough players.
The Rockets will resume action tonight against Indianapolis at Laurel Hill. Action will start 7:00 p.m.
