Box Score

Rochester, MI - Toledo (10-17) dropped its first game in its non-conference match at Oakland (5-17) tonight but rebounded for a 3-1 (27-30, 30-21, 30-22, 30-26) victory. Freshman outside hitter Kate Bean led the Rockets with 18 kills, while sophomore middle blockers Kelsey Culver and Corrie Magnus each notched 11 kills.

Oakland hit .293 in the first game and rebounded from an early 8-3 deficit to record the win. Toledo hit .103 in the first game but put its offensive game together in the last three games of the match, hitting over .250 in each. The Rockets jumped out to early leads and led throughout each of the final three games. UT combined that hitting performance with 13 service aces in those games which was too much for Oakland to overcome.

Sophomore outside hitter Melissa Cedegren paced the Rockets' serving success with a career-high five aces followed by Magnus with four and senior setter Carrie McCaw with three.

Bean notched a double-double for Toledo, adding 13 digs to her 18 kills. Freshman libero Lora Sarich led the team with 17 digs on defense.

"We played hard throughout the entire match," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "It was a nice team win for us and it was good to see everybody make a positive contribution."

Toledo returns to conference play this weekend with a pair of key matches vs. Ball State on Friday, Nov. 7 and Marshall on Saturday, Nov. 8.
