Box Score

Toledo, OH - Toledo (9-16, 5-7 MAC) dropped a 3-0 (30-24, 30-24, 30-26) decision tonight to MAC West Division leader Eastern Michigan (19-5, 7-4 MAC) at Savage Hall.

Sophomore middle blockers Kelsey Culver (10 kills, one ace and two block assists) and Corrie Magnus (nine kills, one ace and four block assists) led the Rockets with 12 points apiece, while freshman outside hitter Kate Bean registered 11 points on a team-high 11 kills.

Freshman libero Lora Sarich led the Rockets on the defensive end with 14 digs, while Magnus notched a team-high four total blocks.

"I thought we played hard enough tonight but we just didn't execute as well as needed to," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "Eastern is a good team and we needed to play at a little bit higher level tonight to win. We played well in some stretches but we weren't consistent enough to put together a run of points to give us some momentum."

The Eagles took control of the match right from the start by jumping out to a 7-3 advantage and the Rockets couldn't get within closer than two points for the remainder of the game. In the second game, EMU again asserted itself by taking an 11-6 advantage and not letting its lead get lower than two the rest of the game.

The Rockets fought back in the third game by taking a 13-12 edge before the Eagles tallied six straight points to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Toledo returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 1 with a trip to Athens, OH to battle MAC East Division leader Ohio (18-3, 9-0 MAC) at 7:00 p.m.
