1/25/2003 12:00:00 PM

East Lansing, MI - The University of Toledo men's tennis team was defeated, 6-1, by Michigan State today at the Michigan State Indoor Tennis Facility. With the loss the Rockets fall to 0-3 on the season.

In doubles action, the team of sophomore Khalid Al Nabhani and freshman Freddy Gomez defeated MSU's Goran Topalo and Adam Hourani, 9-7. UT did not receive a point, as you must win at least two matches to claim the doubles point.

In singles action, the Spartans won the first five matches but sophomore Mirsad Begic prevented the sweep by defeating MSU's Josh Efros (7-6, 6-1) in the No. 6 singles spot.

"We had some oppurtunities to make it a competitive match," Toledo Men's Head Tennis Coach Al Wermer said. "Unfortuantaly we were unable to take advantage."

The Rockets will return home to host Kalamazoo College on Friday, January 31 at Laurel Hill Tennis Club. Action will start at 7:00 p.m.
