OLEAN, NY - Toledo (6-4) saw its five-game win streak come to an end with a 94-68 setback at St. Bonaventure (5-5) this afternoon before a capacity crowd of 6,000.
Junior guard Keith Triplett scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out three assists and equalled a career high with five steals. Sophomore guard Jim Clement and redshirt freshman guard Sammy Villegas also scored in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
After falling behind 21-11 in the first six minutes, the Rockets rallied to tie the contest at 40-40 with just over two minutes to play in the first half on a trey by senior guard Nick Moore. But the Bonnies closed out the half with an 11-0 run to regain control.
Toledo then fell behind by as many as 22 points with 14:18 remaining in the game but staged another comeback with a 12-2 run to climb within 71-59 with 10:48 left. However, the Bonnies answered with a 11-0 run of their own to put the game away.
Marques Green and Jamil Terrell each scored 22 points to lead the Bonnies. Green added 13 assists and three steals, while Terrell grabbed 12 rebounds with two assists and three blocks. Patricio Prato had 15 points and six rebounds, Mike Gansey added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Joe Shepherd scored 11 points, with three assists and two steals.
The Bonnies converted nine of 17 three-point shots, while the Rockets were 10-for-26 from three-point range.
Toledo will return to action on Monday, Dec. 30 with a trip to East Lansing, MI to battle No. 15-ranked Michigan State at the Breslin Center to close out their non-conference slate.
