Final Stats

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (10-5, 2-2 MAC) dropped its second consecutive match with a 3-0 (30-22, 30-17, 30-28) setback tonight to Akron (13-3, 4-0 MAC) at Savage Hall. The defeat for UT was the first time since the 2001 campaign that it had suffered two consecutive home losses.

"Akron really passed the ball well which helped them do a lot of different things on offense," UT Head Coach Kent Miller said. "We didn't seem to be prepared for the match after our loss to Ball State on Friday, and we need to learn how to respond better after losses. We have to create energy on our side of the net and not let our opponents control the match like Akron did tonight."

The Zips registered a .336 attack percentage for the match marking the second highest hitting mark by a Rocket opponent this season. UT was held to a .112 attack percentage for its third worst hitting performance this year.

Senior Jenn Snyder led Akron with 18 kills (.607 ATK%) and 14 digs, while senior Bitsy Mayhle paced the Rocket attack with nine kills.

The Rockets will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 9 with a trip to Ypsilanti, MI to take on Eastern Michigan (14-1, 3-0 MAC) at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles entered tonight's match at Ohio tied with Ball State for the MAC West Division lead. The contest begins a five-match road stretch for UT with the Rockets' next home date coming on Saturday, Oct. 26 vs. Western Michigan.
