MOUNT PLEASANT, MI--Bryan Scheurer hit a two-run walk-off home run to give Central Michigan a dramatic 9-7 win over Toledo on Friday afternoon at Theunissen Stadium.
The Rockets had taken a 7-6 lead in the top of the ninth on junior RF Jay Juras' three-run homer to right field, his fourth hit of the game.
The Chippewas tied it in the bottom half when Ryan Krueger was hit by a pitch and then scored the tying run on a double by Tim Bullinger.Scheuer then connected for his game-winning two-run homer.
Central took an early 1-0 lead in the first but UT tied it on sophomore 2B J.D. Foust's RBI groundout.
The Chippewas took a 3-1 advantage with a pair of runs in the third inning.
The Rockets then scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to take a 4-3 lead.
Senior LF Andy Stetka clubbed his team-high 13th homer in the fifth, Juras had an RBI single in the sixth and Stetka scored an unearned run in the seventh thanks to a pair of CMU errors.
But Central responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Chippewas a 6-4 lead.
Reliever Gavin Gillette picked up the win for the Chippewas. He gave up three hits and three runs in 1 2/3 innings to raise his record to 5-1 on the year.
Sophomore Matt Harris (1-3) suffered the loss for the Rockets.
