Box Score

TOLEDO, OH - Toledo (20-22) utilized balanced production from both its hitters and pitchers to record an 8-4 triumph over Youngstown State (15-22-1) this afternoon at Scott Park.

Eight Rocket hitters registered one hit apiece and seven UT pitchers appeared in the contest. Junior Nick Rowland (2-2) earned the victory with 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Rockets trailed 3-1 heading into the fifth but rallied for three runs to take a 4-3 advantage. Junior CF Tony Miller plated the Rockets' first run of the frame with his team-best 44th RBI of the season. After Miller stole his school-record 27th base of the campaign, sophomore 1B Phil Pilewski drilled a two-run single to center to give UT the lead.

The Penguins rebounded with a run in the top of the sixth to even the contest, but the Rockets answered back with two runs in the sixth and seventh innings for their final margin of victory.

In the sixth, junior 3B Mike Meinhart led off with a single and freshman DH Brendan Hadley followed with a double to right field. Meinhart scored on freshman RF Jarrod Resendez' RBI groundout and Hadley came across on a bunt single by freshman SS Chris Arvay.

In the seventh, UT scored its two runs without the benefit of a base hit. Pilewski walked to lead off the inning and advanced to third base on a pair of groundouts. Pilewski then scored on a wild pitch. Hadley then drew a two-out walk and pinch-runner Jeff Aulet advanced to second on a wild pitch and reached third base on an errant pickoff attempt. Aulet then scored on a balk.

Toledo returns to action this weekend with a four-game MAC series in DeKalb, IL vs. Northern Illinois.
