TOLEDO, OH -
Toledo (19-22, 5-10 MAC) dropped a 15-6 decision to Bowling Green (28-10, 15-4 MAC) this afternoon at Scott Park. The game was delayed by rain at the start for an hour and 25 minutes.
After the Falcons jumped out to a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the top of the first, the Rockets tied the score in the bottom of the frame on a two-out RBI single from sophomore 1B Phil Pilewski. Pilewski's single plated junior CF Tony Miller who drew a one-out walk and stole second base. Miller's steal was his 26th of the season, tying the UT record for stolen bases in a season held by Ronnie Warga in the 1999 campaign.
Bowling Green then scored the game's next seven runs to take an 8-1 advantage into the bottom of the fifth.
The Rockets tallied a pair of runs in the fifth on two-out doubles by Miller and freshman C Mitch Maier.
The Falcons answered back though with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth to restore their seven-run cushion.
Freshman 2B Chris Arvay's RBI single in the sixth brought the Rockets to within 10-4, but BG scored five runs in the eighth to secure the victory.
Junior 3B Mike Meinhart's RBI double and an RBI groundout from freshman DH Brendan Hadley accounted for UT's final runs in the eighth inning.
Meinhart led the Rockets' 13-hit attack with three hits. Sophomore 2B J.D. Foust collected two hits to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 15 games.
