Box Score

DAYTON, OH - Toledo (19-18) dropped a 4-1 decision to Dayton (18-18) in a non-conference affair this afternoon at Stuart Park.

The Rockets outhit the Flyers by a 9-7 margin but were unable to string any rallies together to generate any offense.

"Today was a classic example of us hitting the ball hard but not being able to get any sort of big inning going," Head Coach Joe Kruzel said. "Dayton played us tough today and it was a well-played game by both teams."

Each team used four pitchers in the contest with no pitcher throwing more than three innings.

"We wanted to get our pitchers some work today and we were able to accomplish that," Kruzel said.

Freshman Adam Jackson made his first collegiate start for the Rockets and allowed one run in two innings. Junior Ian Baltzer (2-2) suffered the loss by allowing three runs and five hits in three innings. Freshman Raul Lopez and sophomore Matt Harris followed with two and one innings of scoreless relief, respectively.

The Rockets were able to retire 14 of the last 15 Flyer batters.

Toledo plated its lone run on freshman C Mitch Maier's two-out double which drove in senior LF Andy Stetka to tie the contest at 1-1 in the third inning.

The Rockets will return to action on Friday, April 20 at Scott Park to begin a four-game series vs. arch-rival Bowling Green. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
