TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo men's golf team continued its spring success with a second-place finish at the Dr. Pepper Intercollegiate in Pottsboro, TX. The Rockets fired a 292 on Sunday at the par-72, 7,001 yards Tanglewood Resort, hosted by Northern Illinois. UT finished the two-day tournament with a score of 589.
The tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather, which only allowed the teams to play 18 holes on Saturday.
Toledo registered two top-10 finishes, as junior Kevin Kornowa and freshman Brad Heaven tied for fifth place with a 36-hole score of two-over par 146. Sophomore Sean McTernan tied for 14th place with a score of 149, while classmate David Jones tied for 33rd with a152. The final Rocket participant was freshman Cale Green, who tallied a 153 to tie for 37th overall.
Purdue captured the team title with a final score of 581, eight strokes ahead of the Rockets. The Boilermakers placed three scorers in the top 15. A total of 17 teams, including four MAC schools and nine Big Ten teams, participated in the annual tournament.
The Boilermakers's Lee Williamson earned the individual crown after firing a two-under par 142, edging Louisville's Chris Campbell by one stroke.
Toledo returns to the action April 67 at the Marshall Invitational in Huntingotn, WV.
