Toledo dropped a 7-4 decision to Western Kentucky at Nick Denes Field in Bowling Green, KY this afternoon.
Toledo got things started off in the first inning when junior Tony Miller walked, stole second and third before scoring on the catcher's error. Western Kentucky did all its damage in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings when the Hilltoppers put up three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth thanks to Matt Fox's two-run home run that capped off the scoring, making the score 7-1 going into the seventh inning.
The Rockets answered with runs in the seventh, eighth and with two outs in the ninth inning, UT brought the tying run to plate. Senior Andy Stetka grounded out to short to end the game. Sophomore J.D. Foust notched two of Toledo's four hits on the day.
Senior pitcher Shawn Wilson was charged with the loss, dropping his record to 1-1 on the season. Wilson pitched 5.1 innings, giving up eight hits and five earned runs.
The Rockets(2-2) look to even the series on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. when they take the field in game two of a three-game set against the Hilltoppers (7-5).
