TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Terry Reynolds scored 14 points and dished out a career-high nine assists as Toledo downed IUPU-Fort Wayne, 69-60, in its home opener Wednesday night. The win extended the Rockets' win streak in home openers to nine.
Forwards Ricardo Thomas (11 points, eight rebounds), Kareem Milson (11 points) and Milo Kirsh (10 points, team-high nine rebounds) also scored in double figures for UT.
The Rockets (1-1) used a 12-0 run in the closing minutes to put the game away, as the Mastodons (0-2) went scoreless for nearly eight minutes during Toledo's surge.
Reynolds scored seven points during Toledo's run, including a layup with
7:18 to play to tie it at 56. Thomas added a layup 27 seconds later to put the
Rockets ahead to stay.
Sophomore Keith Triplett added a three-pointer off a pass from Reynolds, Kirsh hit a jumper and Reynolds capped the run with a jumper and three free throws, giving
Toledo a 68-56 lead with 28 seconds to play.
UT returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 24 when it travels to Fairfax, VA to take on George Mason (1-1).
