Toledo, OH - University of Toledo linebacker Kevin Rollins (Twinsburg, OH-Chamberlin) was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference for the week ending Sept. 18, 1999.
Rollins, a junior, made his impact felt in the first half in a 23-10 victory over Ball State on Sept. 18 by registering four sacks totalling 24 yards in losses. For the game, he registered a team-high 13 tackles, as well as five tackles for losses for 25 yards and one pass breakup.
Previous to the Ball State game, Rollins had four sacks in his entire career. Rollins now is tied with Miami's Dustin Cohen for the league lead with four sacks.He is 26th in overall tackles in the MAC with 9.0 per game.
