Anna Can was named assistant women’s rowing coach at the University of Toledo in February of 2025.
Can, a 2020 graduate of Ohio State University, most recently served as the men’s varsity coach for the Olentangy Rowing Club in Lewis Center, Ohio. She has also served as an assistant for Upper Arlington Crew and Dublin Crew.
"What stood out about Anna through the hiring process was her attention to detail, her empathy toward others, and her inquisitive nature as to what it is going to take to build this team the right way moving forward,” said Bailey-Greene. “She is driven to learn, grow, and be the best coach she can be for those around her, all qualities we look for in our athletes as well. Her focus on the holistic approach to athlete development will fit in perfectly at the University of Toledo. I cannot wait for her to arrive in March and hit the ground running!"
"I want to extend my sincere gratitude to Coach Bailey-Greene and the entire University of Toledo staff for their warm welcome and for giving me the opportunity to join their family,” said Can. “The University of Toledo has the perfect foundation to build a successful D-I rowing program, and I am excited to contribute to bringing that vision to life."
Can, who joined the Ohio State Women’s Varsity Rowing team as a walk-on, earned a degree in animal sciences and a minor in outreach education. She joined Dublin Crew as an assistant while still in college before accepting an assistant position with Upper Arlington Crew, where she acted as the primary coach for lightweight and 2V boats. She served as the primary coach for the Olentangy Rowing Club varsity men’s team from 2022-24.
